Istana kuno tersebut terbuat dari kayu yang dibangun pada masa pemerintahan Sultan Muhammad Jalaluddin Syah III (sekitar tahun 1885 M). Saat ini digunakan/dimanfaatkan sebagai “Museum Daerah Sumbawa” tempat penyimpanan benda-benda sejarah Kabupaten Sumbawa. Istana ini merupakan dua bangunan kembar ditopang atas tiang kayu besar sebanyak 99 buah, sesuai dengan sifat Allah dalam Al – Qur’an (Asma’ul Husna). Di Dalam
Merupakan Istana bangunan Belanda pada tahun 1932, tempat sebagai kediaman terakhir Sultan Kaharuddin III, melakukan kegiatan pemerintahan. Sekarang digunakan sebagai tempat penerimaan tamu – tamu agung dan kegiatan – kegiatan upacara / resepsi yang bersifat formal, serta pertemuan kepemerintahan lainnya.
Bala Kuning (The Yellow House) -
Bala kuning merupakan rumah tempat tinggal keluarga Sultan yang terakhir. Di sini dapat dijumpai benda-benda magis kerajaan, seperti : Bodong, Sarpedang, Payung Kamutar, Tear (tombak /lembing), Keris, Qur’an tulisan tangan oleh Muhammad Ibnu Abdullah Al-Jawi (+/- Tahun 1784) pada saat Pemerintahan Sultan Harrunnurrasyid II (1770 – 1790), yang selalu terpelihara dengan baik.
Dusun Pamulung -
Salah satu dusun yang termasuk dalam Wilayah Desa Karang Dima Kecamatan Labuan Badas, terletak sekitar 8 km dari kota Sumbawa Besar. Dusun ini merupakan lokasi desa wisata, karena di desa tersebut dapat disaksikan berbagai atraksi budaya daerah, seperti Karaci, Barapan Kebo, Tari-tarian tradisional serta musik tradisional.
Desa Tepal -
Desa tradisional yang terletak + 37 km dari pusat kota, masuk dalam wilayah Kecamatan Batu Lanteh. Desa ini dapat ditempuh dengan berjalan kaki atau dengan berkuda. Desa Tepal menyimpan banyak budaya tradisional , karena masyarakatnya masih memegang teguh adat istiadat dan Budaya Samawa. Ini dapat dilihat dari cara berpakaian, cara hidup dan bentuk rumah yang unik, sehingga desa ini disebut juga Desa Adat.
Salah satu desa di Kabupaten Sumbawa yang tetap memelihara kelestarian budaya daerah seperti tenunan tradisional, pembuatan gerabah dan atraksi permainan rakyat seperti pacuan kuda, karapan kerbau. Desa Poto yang letaknya di Kecamatan Moyo Hilir kira-kira 13 km dari kota Sumbawa besar dapat dijangkau dengan sarana transportasi darat yang senantiasa melayani trayek tersebut setiap hari.
Lazimnya disebut sebagai pulau terpadat di dunia, karena kepadatan penduduknya +14.000 jiwa/km persegi. Dikenal juga sangat aman karena sejauh ini kehidupan masyarakatnya selalu rukun dan damai. Di pulau ini tidak akan ditemui lahan pertanian, perkebunan maupun peternakan. Lahan-lahan yang ada dimanfaatkan untuk membangun runah tinggal. Untuk membangun rumah baru, mereka harus bergotong royong dengan cara menyusun batu karang yang telah dikumpulkan sebelumya. Ketiadaan lahan di atas membawa keunikan tersendiri, karena ternak kambing milik penduduk setempat tidak hanya memakan dedaunan, tetapi juga kertas, ikan laut, dan kain-kain baju yang telah robek. Pulau Bungin masih berada dalam wilayah Kecamatan Alas atau + 70 km dari kota Sumbawa besar. Untuk mencapai pulau ini tersedia perahu motor yang hilir mudik antara pulau Bungin dan Dermaga Alas atau melalui darat dengan kendaraan bermotor.
Pulau Kaung (Kaung Island) -
Salah satu pulau perkampungan nelayan yang letaknya tidak terlalu jauh dari pulau Bungin. Untuk mencapai pulau ini tidak lagi menyebrangi laut, melainkan dapat dilalui lewat darat dengan mempergunakan kendaraan bermotor maupun naik dokar. Kerajinan rakyat yang terbuat dari kerang-kerangan dapat ditemui di pulau ini.
Merupakan dusun pandai besi (Black Smith) yang tetap mempertahankan sifat tradisionalnya yang kental dalam pembuatan pisau, parang, cangkul, tembilang, dan sebagainya. Dusun Talwa yang oleh para wisatawan dijuluki sebagai Blingin Jerman ini terletak di Kecamatan Moyo Hulu, berjarak 14 km dari kota Sumbawa Besar.
Obyek Wisata Alam
Obyek Wisata berselancar yang terkenal dengan konsistensi ombaknya terletak di Pantai Maci dan Pantai Sili. Kedua pantai ini dapat ditempuh melalui darat dengan perjalanan kira-kira 6 jam dari Kota Sumbawa Besar atau dengan penerbangan ke Kota Bima ditambah 1 jam dengan kendaraan bermotor. Kedua pantai ini sangat terkenal sebagai tempat berselancar dan setiap tahunnya bersama-sama dengan Kabupaten Dompu mengadakan perlombaan berselancar tingkat Dunia di Pantai Hu’u.
Pantai Saliper Ate -
Saliper berarti pelipur lara / penenang / penyejuk. Ate berarti hati. Sesuai dengan namanya Pantai Saliper Ate berarti pantai yang dapat menenangkan/ menyejukan hati pengunjungnya. Terletak sekitar 5 km ke arah Barat Kota Sumbawa Besar. Lokasinya mudah dijangkau dengan transportasi darat ( angkutan kota).
Pantai Kencana -
Pantai Kencana yang jaraknya sekitar 11 km dari Kota Sumbawa Besar merupakan pantai yang cukup menawan. Dengan bentuk pantai yang melengkung dan di kedua ujung lengkungannya masing-masing memiliki rona tersendiri. Terutama di lengkungan bagian kanannya berdiri batu karang berbentuk alami dengan bolongannya yang setiap saat dicium ombak. Di sekitar pantai juga tersedia fasilitas-fasilitas wisata berupa cottage dengan bentuk bangunan khas daerah Sumbawa.
Samongkat -
Obyek wisata alam pegunungan ini berada pada ketinggian + 450 meter di atas permukaan air laut, jaraknya 17 km dari Kota Sumbawa Besar. Jalan yang berbelok-belok dengan pemandangan perbukitan dan lembah-lembah ini dapat ditempuh dengan berbagai kendaraaan. Fasilitas yang tersedia antara lain kolam renang dan shelter.
Pulau Moyo ( Moyo Island ) -
Terletak Sebelah utara Sumbawa dan di mulut Teluk Saleh dengan luas + 30 ha. Pulau Moyo memiliki obyek wisata darat dan laut yang indah dan alami. Hutan tropis pulau Moyo merupakan habitat kawanan rusa, sapi liar, babi hutan dan burung gosong (megapodius) yang dilindungi. Selain itu, pulau ini juga termemiliki air terjun bertingkat ai mata jitu. Wisata baharinya menyediakan panorama bawah laut yang indah untuk kegiatan menyelam (snorkling dan skuba diving). Bahkan mulai dari dermaga pulau moyo sudah dapat dilihat ribuan ikan kecil. Lady Diana dari kerajaan Inggris dan Prince William dari kerajaan Belanda pernah datang berlibur ke Pulau Moyo.
Pantai Ai Manis -
Terletak di daratan pulau Moyo yang berpasir putih dan pemandangan bawah laut dengan terumbu karang dan tropikal fish-nya yang menawan serta hutan tropis yang ada di sekitarnya menjadikan Ai Manis sangat cocok bagi kegiatan camping, snorkling, dan sebagainya. Dari Ai Manis dapat disaksikan tenggelamnya Matahari (Sunset). Jalan-jalan di hutan tropis sekitar Ai Manis akan tersaji secara alami berbagai jenis flora dan fauna seperti rusa, sapi liar, babi hutan, burung koak kao, kakak tua dan burung gosong yang dilindungi. Tidak jauh dari Ai Manis terdapat gua kelelawar. Ai Manis dapat ditempuh lebih kurang 30 menit dengan speed boat dari Ai Bari Kecamatan Moyo Hilir.
Liang Petang -
Sebuah gua alam yang di dalamnya terdapat batu mirip manusia, balai-balai (pantar),
alat tenun dan juga dipenuhi stalagmit dan stalagtit. Letaknya di Desa Batu Tering Kecamatan Moyo Hulu dengan jarak 29 km dari Kota Sumbawa Besar. Tidak jauh dari gua ini terdapat pula gua kelelawar (Liang Bukal).
Teluk Saleh (Saleh Bay) -
Merupakan gugusan berpasir putih dengan koralnya yang indah dan beraneka ragam ikan hias dengan airnya yang tenang, sangat cocok sebagai tempat berenang dan menyelam untuk melihat pemandangan bawah laut. Teluk Saleh merupakan perairan yang kaya dengan aneka ikan laut, seperti ikan kerapu yang hasilnya telah diekspor ke berbagai negara, antara lain Jepang, Hongkong dan Singapura. Dari Teluk Saleh tampak jelas Gunung Tambora yang mempunyai kawah (Caldera) terluas di dunia.
